ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Directorate of Alumni Affairs was established in September 2016 to look after the alumni needs for the entire University. It was earlier functioning as the Alumni Office since 2007. The major objectives of the Directorate are to enhance the coordination between SRM University and its alumni, to improve the interaction of alumni with the students and the faculty members, to establish alumni chapters in India and abroad, to maintain the database of alumni and to look after the interests of SRM alumni.

MISSION
Advance SRM Institute of Science and Technology by promoting alumni relationship fostering commitment among students enabling student-alumni interactions.

DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE

Dear Alumni,
SRM Engineering College, founded in 1984, has blossomed into SRMIST, a top-notch private university. Now SRM Institute of Science and Technology is multi-locational and multi-disciplinary. Engineering and Technology, Medical and Health Science, Management, Science and Humanities, Law and Agriculture are the major faculties. SRM Institute of Science and Technology now operates from three locations in Chennai and one in Delhi.

As Director Alumni Affairs, It is my privilege and pleasure to welcome you all to be a part of the alumni community. All you need to do is to join the portal.

Our Chancellor quite often refers to our alumni as “our ambassadors and torch-bearers”. For any university this is quite true. Our Directorate is exclusively mandated to serve the alumni community. Here, the major thrust is on “for the alumni, by the alumni and through the alumni”. In this endeavor, we look forward for all your help and support. We solicit your views/suggestions to strengthen our relationship. Together, let us reach greater heights.

Connecting the alumni community and connecting the alumni community with our students is the core objective of the events conducted by the Directorate of Alumni Affairs (DAA).

Talk February and August Top alumni from the industry are invited for a motivational speech
Young Leadership Program February and August To groom SRM students with their interpersonal skills, we invite alumni from various backgrounds.
Women Leadership Program (Women’s Day Special) March Alumnae are invited to encourage and emphasize on women role and power
Pre-internship Fair Training February and September Alumni from industry are invited to help develop the profile of our students
Internship Fair March and October 5-10 alumni firms are invited to offer internship to the current students
Alumni Guest Lectures Every month Career perspectives like study at Germany or how to aim for the core jobs/government jobs/exams
Hangout Talk Weekends To connect alumni from abroad over video
Alumni Day First week of January For all alumni
Reunions July or August To conduct Silver Jubilee and other reunions

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEMBER ELECTION

Dear Alumni,
We invite your attention to the scheduled SRMIST Alumni Association election for the position of Executive Committee Member for the term 2021-24. This election will be through E-voting. The guidelines for the E-voting will be made available in the alumni portal.

The important dates are as below:

  • Availability of nomination form and guidelines in the website https://www.srmist.edu.in/alumni-affairs : 4th Week of August
  • Last date for submission of nominations: 05 September, 2020
  • Withdrawal of nominations: 09 September, 2020
  • Publishing the shortlisted nominees for election: 12 September, 2020
  • Opening of online voting: 21 September, 2020
  • Closing of online voting: 22 September, 2020
  • Declaration of results: 01 October, 2020

  • Guidelines for the Executive Members election:

    Eligibility to nominate self/others and to vote in the election:
  • You should be a registered alumnus/alumna of SRMIST.
  • You should have graduated in or before 2015.
  • Last date for filing nominations: Sep 8, 2020
  • Last date for revoking nominations: Sep 10, 2020
  • Release of shortlisted candidates: Sep 12, 2020
  • Voting dates: Sep 21 and 22, 2020
  • Result announcement: Sep 30, 2020

  • The nominated candidates will be shortlisted by a committee on the basis of the strength of the details provided.

    The winning candidates will be selected on the basis of (1) number of votes received (b) current location (c) parent department/faculty.
